BUILDING HEALTH EQUITY THAT LASTS

HEALTH EQUITY CONSULTING FOR FAITH-BASED AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

Community-based organizations, churches, faith-based organizations, and mission-driven nonprofits are already doing the hardest work, closest to the people who need it. What's often missing isn't heart or calling. It's the infrastructure to make that work last beyond a single grant cycle or a single leader. Rooted and Thriving Wellness walks alongside organizations building with intentionality, where nothing and no one gets left behind. And we never charge for it.

Ways We Walk Alongside You

Organizational Health Assessments

Before you build, you have to know where you stand. We do capacity evaluations, gap analyses, and prioritized recommendations that give your team a clear, honest starting point. Not a 200-page report nobody reads. Something you can actually use on Monday morning.

Strategic Planning Facilitation

Your team has the vision. Strategic planning builds the structure to carry it. We facilitate stakeholder engagement, theory of change development, and multi-year roadmaps that move from aspiration to action, with your team's voice and capacity at the center of every step.

Strategic Grant Development

Grant writing is more than getting proposals submitted. It is matching the right funders to the work your organization is actually doing, telling that story with evidence and clarity, and designing programs that hold up after the money arrives. We bring fifteen years of health equity implementation experience to every proposal we touch.

Food Systems & Kitchen Infrastructure

Commercial kitchen design, cooking class programming, farm partnerships, Food is Medicine program design. We translate food systems knowledge into programs your community can run and own, built on what is already working in your context.

Health Ministry Strategy

We walk with faith communities ready to build sustainable health ministry infrastructure: permanent, community-owned wellness programs grounded in evidence and designed to outlast any single grant cycle or single leader.

Partnership Development & Community Brokering

The right partnerships multiply impact without multiplying overhead. We connect organizations to health systems, food banks, government agencies, and community anchors, and help structure relationships that last beyond the introduction.

Tabitha Benefield

Founder

I walk alongside organizations building with intentionality, where nothing and no one gets left behind. That sentence took me fifteen years to find. It took WIC and Bon Secours and federal food policy and more than a few rooms where I knew the work could be so much more than what it was. It took watching organizations with genuine heart and real resources reach toward something bigger than themselves, and recognizing what it would take to help them get there: someone to walk with them through it on purpose. That is what I do. I am a registered dietitian and health equity consultant who works with community-based organizations, churches, faith-based organizations, and mission-driven nonprofits to help them build with intention. Strategic planning, organizational assessment, program design, health ministry development. The kind of work that helps good organizations become great ones on purpose.

My conviction is that God is a God of systems. He laid out, in precise detail, how a community should care for itself: feeding the hungry, protecting the vulnerable, including the stranger, leaving no one behind. That is the conviction underneath everything I do. I believe most of us, myself included, are more capable than we give ourselves credit for, and less capable than we think we are on our own. We were not designed to figure it out alone. We were designed for community. I am based in Charlotte, North Carolina, a city whose diversity continues to impress me. On Saturday mornings before the house wakes up you will find me in my devotional, or exploring somewhere new with a home project in mind, or just dilly dallying with nowhere to be. When I am not working I am with my family, having as much fun as possible. Rooted. Thriving. Walking alongside. That is the work. That is the life. I am glad you are here.
